Beyond PHA: Stimulating intracellular accumulation of added-value compounds in mixed microbial cultures

This review compiled and analyzed the operational conditions (dissolved oxygen, feast famine ratio, sequential batch reactor cycle length, organic loading rate (OLR), pH, C/N, temperature) established during culture strategy for mixed microbial cultures (MMC) selection to understand how these variables could affect synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates, polyglucose, triacylglycerides, levulinic acid adipic from non-fermented substrates. According reported information, dissolved oxygen has a greater impact on type amount produced compound. In lesser extent, OLR length were identified have an accumulation whose was favored at lower longer lengths. Thereby, information this work will allow design future strategies simultaneous compounds interest other than polyhydroxyalkanoates or that would optimize production.
